For the people who complained about this class...
Dania is a really nice adorable lady and the class probably requires one hour of work a week (thursday before the quiz on friday) if you show her you care - you will get an A.

Dania is a wonderful and kind woman who cared very much about her students and their progress. She had a sincere desire to reach out to her students and really encourage them to love Hebrew as much as she does. She is very passionate about her job, and that passion translates into her teaching. I had here for three semesters and she not only helped me learn Hebrew, but she encouraged me to become interested in Jewish history which made me decide to be a Judaic studies minor. She is a fabulous woman and teacher!

The homework was more than I had in other classes, but certainly not unreasonable. It is impossible to think on can learn a new language without having homework and quizzes to make sure the student feels compelled to review his or her studies. Tests and quizzes always discussed what was on homework or discussed in class.

Deeply concerned with students' progress, excellent at encouraging a rounded level of class participation, never shy or dismissive with questions or concerns (either in class or outside). Spiced up class with some extra creative information, but also made sure that the core syllabus was communicated.
Anyone genuinely interested in learning Hebrew will love Prof. Shapira.

Assignments were straightforward, exams/quizzes were frequent but not particularly difficult. Performance in the course is directly proportional to amount of energy invested in learning the material. As with all language courses, passivity doesn't work too well.

The homework and exams were not difficult, but there was often material on exams that was not covered in class, sometimes leaving students to guess what the answer would be.
