Tufts University: Lisa Coleman - Women's Studies - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
This class is the most amazing class I have taken at Tufts so far. Professor Coleman is so smart and so passionate about her subject that it is almost unbelievable! We go over eating disorders, rape, feminist philosophy, gender roles, stereotypes...All the material is very interesting. Professor Coleman does not take attendance so you do not have to go to class but most people do just because this is an amazing class!!! I can't describe how smart she is! Fulfills a world civilization requirement (certain years) and a humanity or a social science requirement as well as for one of the IR core requirements. Definitely worth taking!
Workload:
A lot of reading! Two course packets of about 500 pages each! As well as three books: Kindred, Interpretor of Maladies and Bastard out of Carolina. The books are just amazing!! Packet reading is not necessary to pass the course but definitely mandatory to read SOME of them in order to get an A. I would say if you do 1/3 of the readings you should be fine. 1 paper, 1 midterm, 1 group project and a final. Final and midterm are open book and open notes which is pretty nice! Loads of readings...but not mandatory but recommended.
