Tufts University: JPN063 - Post-War Japanese Lit - Japanese - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccessReview: Hirata is a really laid-back and encouraging teacher. The class environment was really comfortable, and there was much student participation welcome. Great books and authors covered. Hirata introduces aspects of Japanese history and culture to deepen the understanding of the literature, and also acknowledges the readings as translated works, lending insight into the complexities of language within literature that are lost through translation. For those proficient in Japanese he offers the option for you to read the original texts as well.
Workload: Workload was fine, weekly journal entries and some papers. Pretty open with topics.
