Tufts University: David Kaplan - Engineering - Introductory - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
The teacher was very nice and very enthusiastic about his subject. At times he could go over your head and just speak to the kids who knew bio like the back of their hands, but once i read the book I could pretty much follow what was going on. The book used was very good too. There was a field trip which I forgot about but I heard was good. Overall, Kaplan was a very good experience and the class made me want to pursue this as a second major.
Workload:
There was not that much work at all. One quiz, and then a debate at the end of the year. One field trip, and the quiz was just filling in points on a slide show we viewed in class.

Review:
Professor Kaplan is an extremely kind person. He is always looking for further his student's knowledge and interest in the broad field of biotechnology. The course is very rushed (it only meets 1.5 hours a week) and we did not get to cover the entire syllabus. He is extremely busy so sometimes he cannot attend class. He forewarns everyone that he wants the class to be FUN and not a chore. We even took a trip to Genzyme in Allston, MA. He reassured everyone would do well.
Workload:
We did not use the assigned book at all, though I still kept it because it was relatively cheap and not a bad read. We had one "quiz" and a group presentation. The mean of the quiz was probably in the 60's and no one knows what they got on their presentation. But everyone did well in the end.
