Review:
Professor Robert P. Guertin is an excellent professor who's humorous and clear of the material he's teaching. Of course, reading the book before hand would give you a better picture of what he's explaining in class, but it's still very nice just to listen to his lectures. He is kind and gentle to students and makes sure that they know the material. He waits in the Knipp library in Robinson Hall after every lecture just to answer the students' questions. His lectures are very clear, straightforward and humorous. The notes that he's been presenting in class are very effective.

Workload:
Problem sets weekly. Practice problem sets before tests. The p-sets are very effective. The exams are NOT hard. Just do the problem sets, and you'll understand the material perfectly.

Review:
After a full semester with Professor Guertin I can honestly tell you that he is a horrible professor. He stumbles around the classroom, reading off of slides that he created 10 years ago, attempting to form some sort of coherent lecture. Both his lecture and problem set answers are suffused with mistakes. He said in lecture one day "I do not stand by any of my answers to practice problems or problem sets." Frequently class time is devoted to figuring out what he did wrong; apparently he doesn't understand physics either. Lectures are useless -- you will teach yourself physics from the textbook.

Weekly problem sets, 3 exams and a final.

Review:
Professor Guertin does a horrible job of explaining physics. His lectures are a waste of time and frequently incompressible. Recitation TAs are not much of a help either. To be honest, I'm not sure if this course is any easier than Physics 11. Choose wisely...

Review:
Guertin is nice and tries to be helpful but his lectures are entirely incomprehensible, psets are impossible and tests are irrelevant. You are better off taking physics 11 with another prof.
