Prof. Khardon's lectures were very dry. He seems to be on top of the subject, but he makes little effort to make the material interesting to students.
Workload:
6 homeworks, 1 project, mid-term and final exams. The reading and homeworks took up more time than the hw for most courses. Grades on individual questions are often all or nothing (with each question being worth 15% or more of the assignment). Even if you demonstrate a general understanding of the concept, you still receive 0 credit for a problem if your answer isn't exactly what he was looking for. Also, 20% penalty per day for late assignments. The grading is far too harsh, and 10% per day late is the fair standard.

Algorithms is a great course if you don't take it with Blumer! His lectures are extremely boring. His homeworks are pointless. We were always asked about space complexity in a course where space complexity should matter the least. His grading is awkward to say the least. He takes points off arbitrarily and he fights pointlessly hard not to give them back even if he's wrong. He's a smart guy and he answers student questions pretty well but he always thinks that everything is "trivial" and skips explanations and leaves the student in dark (which drove me crazy all semester). I think you would be much better off taking this course with Souvaine.
Workload:
Workload was reasonable. Once a week assignments which were reasonable. No programming assignments. 3 Exams and no final.
