Vo Van Toi | ES003 - Introduction to Electrical Engineering | Electrical Engineering2005-12-23

Review:
Professor Vo has more enthusiasm than professors half his age. The guy has a million incredible credentials, and even though he works for President Bush and Vietnam, he'll spend hours outside of class if you need any help. He has no interest in discipline, he only wants to teach and for you to learn. Take his class and he makes a somewhat challenging topic easy, logical, and entertaining, even if he doesn't mean to be funny. Wonderful guy!

Workload:
Professor isn't strict about homework due-dates, which makes putting everything off very tempting. Don't get sucked in, it's very frustrating doing ten homeworks the night before the test. Two midterms, a final, and a project that is poorly run by the EE dept. but go find Warren Gagosian, a gruff guy who's a genius and very willing to supplement the dept's disorganization.

Joseph Noonan | ES003 - Introduction to Electrical Engineering | Engineering Science2004-11-09

Review:
Nooner as most people would like to call him is awesome. He usually teaches higher level courses so he knows the material here very well. The only downfall is that he doesn't seem to know what is going to be on the tests very well but he will fight for you in the grading of them. He will also boost you grade a bunch if he sees you?re trying or even if you don't really try but he likes you (which isn't hard) he will hook it up.

Workload:
Nooner had no choice with this since the department assigns all the work. Each class has the same HW and tests. He doesn't help you out with the due dates if possible. TAKE HIM IF POSSIBLE.

Review:
One of the best professors I've had at Tufts. Professor Vo makes an incredibly boring subject seem interesting (well, as much as possible), and is willing to work with his students i.e. with make-up quizzes, or extra help. Professor Vo's classes consistently score higher on the tests than the other classes.

Workload:
Homeworks were do-able and well related to the material. Weekly quizzes were straight from the hw.
Review sessions for exams are a MUST with Vo....he lets you know exactly what to expect and what to study.
Exams are a joke - you get a full-page front and back cheat sheet to put whatever you want on it.

Review:
Wonderful Wonderful Professor. The class was fairly easy, mainly because of professor Vo's amazing teaching style. He made everything so easy to understand, that one didn?t even need to read to comprehend everything. With other professors, the class is far more difficult. Vo's sincerity is novel and refreshing, he truly cares about his students and their understanding of the material and enjoyment of the course material.

Workload:
Weekly homework, which was difficult, but really reflected course work and understanding. Weekly quizzes also very helpful. 3 standard tests between all the es 3 classes.

Review:
Noonan is awesome. He is very down to earth and will help you out with any problems that you are having in the class. I learned a lot from his class while not having to really stress out about it that much. He hooks you up with the grades at the end if you show that you have been trying all semester. If you have a chance to take him - do it.

Workload:
He didn't really have a choice here the class I took him for had the same workload no matter which teacher you had. He helped us out with some of the problems before the problem sets were due -- so it was good. He is a very straightforward individual and does everything he can to get you prepared for the tests.
