Tufts University: James Watson - Spanish - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
James Watson | SPN022 - Composition and Conversation II | Spanish2008-01-03

Review:
He was enthusiastic about the class and easy to seek out in office hours but definitely pegged students as A,B, or C students in the first two days of class. class participation is huge- again in the first few weeks you should make a name for yourself.

Workload:
More than spanish 21. compositions, exams, homeworks.... just keep up with assignments right as they're assigned or you'll get behind

James Watson | SPN021 - Composition and Conversation I | Spanish2006-05-05

Review:
Professor Watson's class was laid back and even fun at times. He's a nice guy and a good teacher, but if you want to do well in the class, you need to participate and get on his good side. There was definitely favoritism toward certain students, and he would call on them much more than others. He is a tough grader when it comes to tests and essays and is very particular about grammar. Although the class wasn't that bad, I probably wouldn't take another class with him since there are easier Spanish professors out there and only took the class as a requirement.

Workload:
The workload wasn't too bad, although there was consistently some assignment due every week, which got really annoying. 3 tests, 4 essays, a few quizzes, a presentation, and other little assignments throughout the semester. The readings weren't bad. The final is an essay on the last day of class.

James Watson | SPN022 - Composition and Conversation II | Spanish2005-12-25

Review:
If at all possible, try to take Spanish 22 with another professor. If you are one of the unfortunate few who end up with Watson as your professor, get on his good side and participate. He's a nice guy, but he is a strong believer in favoritism, and if you establish yourself as somebody who is simply looking to do the work and take your grade, he'll go harder on you. Along with his terribly humorless jokes and uninteresting demeanor, Professor Watson is a great reason not to take Spanish 22.

Workload:
The workload was managable. You'll have weekly readings, 4 major compositions, a required weekly viewing of a spanish news program, and exams after every 3 or 4 pieces of literature you read. Overall, not bad.

James Watson | SPN022 - Composition and Conversation II | Spanish2005-12-09

Review:
Really nice guy, but make sure to get on his good side. He definitely favors the students he likes, but I?d say he liked everyone in the 16 person class except for about 4. He grades your essays more or less on how much he likes you and isn?t a hard test grader.

Workload:
Normal amount of workload, easy to get in B+/A- range even if you're not great at spanish.

Review:
This class became increasing unbearable. I you are in the mood for a really corny jokes and favoritism then take this class. He picked on people and made dumb jokes, if he told me how weird my outfit was one more time I was going to scream!! He grades really randomly and basically put u on a scale that you are doomed to stay on all semester.

Workload:
Pretty standard.

James Watson | PE034 - Tennis | Physical Education2004-12-22

Review:
Coach Watson is eternally enthusiastic and encouraging. He is greatly concerned with students' progress in level of play as well as understanding of the game. Watson is unfailingly positive, an amazing tennis coach.
