Tufts University: Rosalind Shaw - Anthropology - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review: Although the course had some organizational and communication problems, overall Prof. Shaw was amazing. She is extremely well-educated and engaging; her passion for her material is highly infectious. Also, she is one of the world's leading experts in her field. Any class that she is teaching is worth taking.
Workload: The readings were very heavy, as was the intensive final research paper.

Review: I loved this class. Prof. Shaw strived to ensure everyone did well in her class (going so far as to offer rewrites on our midterm paper), took class opinion into the curriculum, and tried to engage every member of the class during discussions. Though extremely busy with her duties as department chair she was available during all office hours and promptly responded to e-mails.
Workload: There was about 30 pages of necessary reading per week with optional (she calls it skim-able) readings amounting to another 20 pages or so. Reading is necessary to participate in the class discussions (25% of the grade) but with no tests if you need to skip a week you can. Two papers about 6-7 pages each, grades are strict but fair. The oral presentations are graded strictly.

Review: It was one of the worse classes during my entire education. The professor showed enthusiasm for the field and topics but such was lost somewhere between her and the class.
Workload: Regular workload. Readings especially in the first half. One midterm. No final exam but final research paper (12-15) pages.
