Tufts University: Hillary Crane - Anthropology - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
The readings in this class are very interesting, and you will learn a lot from the homework, but the class itself is rather painful. Professor Crane is dull at best, and classtime is spent overanalyzing one vocab word at a time rather than discussing the readings. Participation is encouraged, but the only way to really participate is to answer her mundane, repetitive questions. In general, you will learn a lot from the class material, but not from Professor Crane.
Workload:
Many small assignments that feel pretty pointless. A couple larger assignments like observation of human behavior and kinship charts. The midterm is way too long for the allotted time, but if you do the readings, watch the movies, and pay attention to the vocab in the textbooks, it's pretty easy. Big ethnography paper based on 2 books you read on top of the other course material. Then a final exam similar to the midterm.
