Tufts University: Serap Kantarci - Experimental College - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review: I think Serap is a very energetic, enthusiastic, creative instructor who makes the class interesting and informative. Also, she is your friend with a good sense of humor :)You can't understand how the time passes so quickly ! it is not a Boring class* You will find an interactive class atmosphere which is comfortable and friendly...I like her teaching techniques since she gets your attention suddenly and you will get involved in class discussions.
She invites guest lecturers, scholars every other week and lets us see and understand the different perspectives, approaches and traditions within Islam and diverse Muslim societies. This is the course that you can learn a lot about the history of Islam and the role of women in current Muslim societies. We have been watching varies documentaries regarding the status of women in Egypt, Morocco, Afghanistan, Iran, ..etc and discussing what we have seen and what we have learned!! You don't need to read hundreds-thousands of pages for this course, you will learn a lot during the class discussions, movies, guest speakers' lectures and oral presentations. I think she will teach "Women in the Third World" course in the Spring semester and I can definitely recommend her course if you are interested in that area. I believe you will enjoy her class...
