David Henry Feldman | CD051 - Intellectual Development of the Child | Child Development2006-05-04

Review:
TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT AN A. Prof. Feldman is a really nice guy that genuinely wants everyone to do well and will do everything he possibly can to make sure that everyone gets an A. Lectures are boring and you don't really need to go as long as you go to the review sessions before the midterm and final. The TAs are great and essentially make sure you have all the right answers after the review sessions.

Workload:
Pretty big reading packet, but you didn't actually have to do the readings if you didn't want to. Midterm, final, final paper, optional extra credit quiz if you get below a 40/50 on the midterm. Completely manageable.

Review:
Prof. Feldman and the TA's were all very helpful, they encouraged alot of class involvement for a big class. Not a difficult class, but I found it boring. The Metahobby requirement can be a pain, especially the final paper but there is alot of help from the TA's if you are looking for it. Prof. Feldman really wanted everyone to do well and even without doing any of the readings you can easily get a B or higher. The midterm and final are on the same format and you know exactly what will be on both. Go to the review sessions, they go over the whole exam so you know exactly what the questions and answers are.

Workload:
Midterm and final plus one optional quiz and a final paper. Nightly readings are boring but aren't always necessary.

Review:
Feldman is incredibly nice and wants everyone to do well. If you are at all interested in the material, the class is great. Long and sometimes hard readings...but Feldman and the TA's do so much to make it easier.

Review:
This class was an absolute bore. I realized halfway through the course that I didn't even have to attend to understand his lectures. He posts all his notes on blackboard, and has review sessions before tests and finals. This is one of the required classes for the major, and it was not a fun one. The metahobby was time consuming, and the tests were very easily graded. It?s an easy grade if you can bare the boring lectures, and study for the tests.

Review:
Professor Feldman is an incredible professor. His passion about the class material is reflected in his lectures and deep concern about his students success. He truly wants everyone to learn the material and to do well in the class. The class itself is very interesting - he reviews several different theories about intellectual development. Although he lectures for most of the classes, he always responds enthusiastically to questions and is very easily available outside of class. I found him to be one of the most engaging and personable teachers I have had at Tufts. If you enjoy the material, he will make this class worth it.

Workload:
There was a large amount of reading assignments for this class. We were also required to start a hobby and keep a journal of our experiences throughout the semester. At the end of the semester, we have to write a long paper on that. Other than this, there is one quiz and one test, both of which are very clear. Professor Feldman and the TA's really work so that their students do well on these exams.

Review:
The class can get a little long and boring at times, but Professor Feldman is so supportive and concerned about students' progress. There are a lot of readings--some are long and tedious, and others are very interesting. Try to keep up with them to get the most out of the material and lectures/discussions. However, he basically tells you exactly what will be on the test so as long as you prepare completely and get help beforehand, you should have no problems. There are NO TRICKS in this class. They ask you exactly what they have prepared you for. The tests are very fair and Professor Feldman always makes time to help you out.

Workload:
Readings long but do-able. There is one quiz, a make-up quiz in case you mess up the first time, and a paper and final that you have a long time to prepare for. Not difficult. Just follow the directions and prepare ahead of time and there are no surprises.
