Tufts University: CD14307 - Applied Developmental Science - Child Development - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccessReview:
Fantastic professor! He makes already-interesting material even more enjoyable. he is a very engaging lecturer and encourages class involvement. He is a very influential scholar in the field and thus is highly knowledgeable about the course material. He is VERY concerned with his students' progress through the course, through their major, and also through their college careers. It was a real treat to have taken a class with this professor.
This class really increased my satisfaction with my major. We are constantly taking courses about theories and methods, but there are few courses offered that teach about the applications of this knowledge toward improving the lives of children. This class did exactly that! The professor also brings highly influential scholars and practitioners to the class to meet with students to discuss their possible career plans, and to learn how they made a niche for themselves in the field of child development. While the class is very helpful and interesting for majors, this would also be a great class for non-majors to take if they are looking for an interesting and informative child development class to take.
Workload:
The workload for this class was not bad at all. There are three 3-5 page papers and three 3-5 page reaction papers due throughout the semester. In my class, the professor allowed you to hand in your paper early to receive feedback, and then hand in a revised paper to be graded (although there is absolutely no penalty for not taking advantage of this). There are 3 TAs in addition to the professor to ask for guidance. At the end of the semester, there is a final project (which was not time consuming at all) which you present to the class. This was a great class!!
