I was able to sit in one of the chorale rehearsals. In my opinion, the choir is not a good ensemble; pitch, intonation, and tone are not there. College choirs of this size should be capable of producing something magical. If you want to hear a real choir, check out the St. Olaf Choir under the baton of Anton Armstrong! They are real musicians.

Tufts University: MUS083 - University Chorale - Music - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccessReview:
Professor Clark works hard to earn the admiration of his students and, even more so, that of the Music Dept. faculty. He is without question a credentialed and talented conductor. His gregarious demeanor is generally well received by students but he does however demonstrate an inability to pull together planned concert works in time for scheduled performances, requiring many unscheduled added rehearsals and admonishing students who are unable to attend. He stipulates in writing that Chamber Singers require a full year commitment, thus deterring many students from auditioning since it is difficult to project schedules from one semester to the next. He also has backed off of this requirement for certain favored students who are unable to meet the terms of their original selection process. After I did not audition last fall because I couldn't commit for the spring, I see he has posted auditions for both Chorale and Chamber Singers. Honestly, this is not fair to other students who signed on for the full year in order to be eligible to travel abroad for the spring tour. This injustice was the final straw that prompted me to submit this review. He is teaching a full credit course in Musicianship this semester and I will be interested to read the reviews.
Workload:
Too many added rehearsals at the 11th hour. Original posted rehearsal schedule and attendance expectations is very fair for a 1/2 credit commitment.
Concert repertoire too ambitious and unrealistic for time allotted.

Tufts University: MUS083 - University Chorale - Music - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccessReview:
Andrew Clark is an outstanding teacher. His class, while long, is both productive and fun. Andy is full of humor, and makes the effort to personally connect with each of his students. Full of energy and generally light-hearted, his passion for music shines through and inspires the singers in his class. He even hosts a party at the end of the semester. When he takes the time to address the audience at performances, he speaks with wisdom and confidence on the historical and cultural significance of the pieces, dropping quotes from various famous figures. My friends in the audience were very impressed. Andy's charisma and good-natured temperament make him stand out in my mind as one of the best teachers on this faculty (and he's only been here a couple years).
Workload:
While the classes are long (7-9:45 PM), they only meet once a week. The songs covered are challenging. While Andy asks that you look at pieces outside of class, there are no graded assignments. Participation, preparation, and attendance are the graded factors. Not difficult to do well in.
