Tufts University: Daniel Dennett - Philosophy - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
Have you read the New York Times recently? If so, you might have come across one of Dennett's editorials concerning religion or evolution. DD is perhaps the most famous professor at Tufts right now and is the leading man in his field of Neo-Darwinism and religion and consciousness among other things. He's not the greatest lecturer, but great at provoking discussion among students and truly interested in what students have to say. He's so smart that just causing him pause and think about one of your comments or questions is an accomplishment.
You should take advantage of this opportunity and take any class with this brilliant man!
This course was just temporary (in preparation of a big new book) and won't be offered again, but he still teaches other ones every semester.
Workload:
Insane amounts of reading (sometimes 300+ pages a week). And he gives pop quizzes so you have to read it, but it's usually really interesting. Midterm paper and final paper (7 and 15 pages respectively).
