Tufts University: Susan Russinoff - Philosophy - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review: Great teacher - assignments were fair, class discussions were always enlightening, and she really let the students decide the direction of the course.
Workload: 5 essays throughout the term, no tests or exams.
Assignments were very straightforward and for every one we had the opportunity to peer edit.

Review: Professor Russinoff is clearly a very intelligent person, but she's not the greatest teacher. I thought that the book for phil 33 was much more clear and comprehensive in its explanations. She doesn't add much in the way of enhancing understanding of the materials, though she does have a great personality. I did love the course material and found logic really fun and interesting.
Workload: I thought that the work load was on the lighter side and very reasonable. I never got stressed out by the class, ever. The tests are VERY fair as are the expectations of students in general.

Review: Professor Russinoff is very energetic and eager to help students learn the material. There are 4 very accessible TA's. The course follows a textbook closely and Professor Russinoff explains the material and provides many clear examples. She's very personable and makes the class enjoyable!
Workload: The workload is above average, but it's spent on problem sets rather than papers (which is a welcome change for many social science majors). However, it is completely reasonable and not nearly as difficult as many students suggest (many of whom most likely do not attend class on a regular basis). I took this class as neither a philosophy student nor for a math credit, and greatly enjoyed it!

Review: Professor Russinoff is an energetic, fun and caring professor. She loves students visiting her in her office hours and will certainly go out of her way to help anyone who is having trouble. She is also a great lecturer and has a GREAT sense of humor (very dry and sarcastic).
Workload: In terms of the course itself, I found it to be one of the most difficult classes that I have ever taken. There were problem sets assigned every couple weeks and some of them took me around 10 hours to complete. There were 3 tests and one final and a couple of the tests were extremely challenging. This course is time consuming. Do NOT take it unless you're interested or a Philosophy major. It's not an easy way out of the math dist. requirement

Review: Prof. Russinoff makes 9:30 math for philosophers bearable. She has a great sense of humor, and if you like sarcasm, she's your lady. Interesting and engaging lecturer, she tries to make logic "fun." Would highly recommend both the teacher and the course.
Workload: Not much work, easy problem sets, decent tests.
