Tufts University: Sam Sommers - Psychology - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Sam Sommers | PSY032 - Experimental Psychology | Psychology2005-11-17

Review:
Professor Sommers is awesome. He's hilarious and knows how to entertain and teach at the same time. The material is not extremely interesting, but he does provide great clips and examples to make them more so. Participation is not as intimidating as it would be in other large classes. He actually makes an effort to know everybody's names.

Workload:
Readings are typical, less than an hour. And they're easy to understand. But sometimes I wish the text was a little more technical with definitions so you get a better sense of the terms.

Sam Sommers | PSY013 - Social Psychology | Psychology2004-04-05

Review:
Professor Sommer is a great teacher who shows concern for student progress everyday. Since the beginning of the semester he has made an effort to learn everyone's name and now he can call us by name when we answer questions in class. He allows many opportunities for students to ask questions and treats all questions with professionalism and answers them all to his best abilities and is willing to admit if he knows the answer or not. He helps the class relate the course material to our daily lives by showing us TV clips and talking about current issues.

Workload:
The readings assigned are fair. The professor asks that students uphold their end of the course by reading and he helps to reinforce the readings by emphasizing what is most important, in his lecture. The readings are applicable and relevant to the course. The two papers assigned are outlined very thoroughly and students know exactly what they will be graded on.
