Tufts University: Agnes Trichard-Arany - French - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review: Madame Trichard-Arany is one of the best french teachers i've ever had. She is really enthusiastic about the course. I feel that my french drastically improved after taking this class. Other people seemed to mention that she played favorites... In my class she wasn't very supportive of students who haven't done the assignment. While other teachers might not call this out as much, I think it is unfair to say that she played favorites because everyone should come to class with the assignment completed.
Workload: I think it is certainly a lot of work on a daily basis, but if you put in the work I don't think studying for tests was difficult. She is very straight forward with what will be on the test.

Review: Prof. Trichard-Arany definitely has her favorites and does not seemed concerned in trying to help her students who really need it. She is good at trying to get the whole class to participate in group activities and calling on everyone. She doesn't explain the grammar very well and expects everyone to know it from reading the section in the book for homework.
Workload: The workload goes up and down. Sometimes it's just a conversation and grammar but then sometimes it's a composition plus tons of other work.

Review: Mme. Trichard-Arany was a very enthusiastic and energetic teacher who emphasized class participation. She was good at explaining grammar points, etc. I only had her for part of the year, as she took maternity leave, but during the time that I had her I thought she was a good teacher.
Workload: Pretty straightforward, typical amount of work for a french class; however, I thought she was a hard grader.

Review: The professor is not very considerate she seems to really have her favorites already 1-if u can speak and 2-if you don't ask too many questions. She might pick on you here or there and is not very supportive of trying to get her students up. If you're bad in French I wouldn't recommend you take French 4 with her because you'll end up being treated unfairly and probably not doing too well. Try and find a teacher who is really concerned with your progress!!
Workload: Too much work especially if French is not your major. You have about 4-5 pages of work each day and classes are like every other day so if you have 5 other classes might want to advise yourself.

Review: Professor Trichard-Arany is probably one of the best French instructors I have had in my life. She is originally French which of course is a plus. In addition, she has a great sense of humor, optimistic attitude and encourages class participation. If you enjoy French and are ready to participate, you will enjoy her course. In addition, she is ALWAYS available to her students and actually encourages them to come and receive extra help.
Workload: Like any fourth level language class at Tufts, French 4 is moderately demanding with lots of new vocabulary, some very heavy grammar rules, and more reading and writing. Expect to write 4-5 compositions, and encounter some grammar rules that you probably didn't even know existed.
