Review: Dear Ellen,
Didn't have a current email address and didn't know how to reach you other than this...
It's a pleasure, even if a belated one, to wish you a 'Bonne Anniversaire? and a lovely new Ellen-Year!
Sincere good thoughts and hope to see you again some day....
Love from Ellie in Maine

Review: Prof. Detwiller is the best- she is genuinely concerned with her students understanding and makes herself available if you need to see her. She tries hard to make class interesting- but its a language class so theres not that much she can do. I plan on taking French 4 with her. She also really appreciates participation, as long as your giving effort she'll reward you.
Workload: Straightforward, not a lot of work at all.

Review: Madame Detwiller is a joy and I recommend that all mid-level French students try to take a class from her. She's so concerned with students progress and all students comprehension of the French language. She is understanding about students varying interests in the language and realizes she teaches a class that most students are being forced to take. She makes class fun and interesting while challenging her students the whole time. She has a clear, helpful presentation style that urges participation.
Workload: Workload was average for a mid-level language class. You have to go to class like all language classes. Make sure to be active in class because she concentrates a lot on that when she gives out final grades. She doesn't check a lot of homework, but if you don't do it, class will be pretty hard to comprehend/sit through.

Review: Mme Detwiller is a really cute, nice lady who generally explains concepts well. She can be very animated at times, but it keeps us all awake! She places a high emphasis on pronunciation which, although is a pain, is great in the end. She is also very helpful during office hours. The actual class is relatively boring, and she doesn't necessarily try to make it more interesting. However, I don't know if any of the teachers can/do
Workload: Pretty reasonable...but leave enough time to do some of the listening exercises.

Review: Professor Detwiller lectures well and is extremely conscious of students' progress especially if she sees that they are putting effort into her class. She encourages class involvement and makes the class interesting. She is also incredibly available and accommodating.
If however, one does not like French, then the class will not be too much fun.
Workload: Pretty average workload for a mid-level language class here at Tufts. 4-5 Compositions per semester, 2 quizzes and 2 exams. Daily grammar exercises.
