Tufts University: Annie Geoghegan - French - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Annie Geoghegan | FR004 - Intermediate French II | French2006-01-29

Review:
I found Prof Geoghegan to be very encouraging and a very good french teacher overall. She does talk rapidly and move from one topic to another pretty quickly, but she's really enthusiastic and is concerned about each of her students. Learned a lot throughout the course.

Workload:
Manageable workload, pretty strict grading on papers. Grade based on papers, tests, quizzes, participation, and recitation.

Annie Geoghegan | FR004 - Intermediate French II | French2005-12-21

Review:
Prof. Geoghegan was hard to follow during class- besides her inability to remain focused on one topic until it was covered, she moved around so erratically that one chose to focus on her movement rather than the information that she was giving. Everything she said could have been read in the text book. Although professing to be always available for extra help, it seems that Prof. G is never on campus. Once you actually get to her office expect her to spend most of the time talking to other professors over your head. Then expect her to tell you that see doesn't have much time but that she is sure you know what you are doing. I did in fact learn from this class but not really as a result of her. Take French 4 with a different professor if possible.

Workload:
Assignments were straightforward and fairly easy. Papers were graded quite hard, but rewrites were always and option with the average of the two taken. Several tests, several quizzes and a final.

Annie Geoghegan | FR022 - Composition and Conversation II | French2004-10-10

Review:
This professor was possibly the worst I had at Tufts. She's the reason that I didn't take French my second semester. She had obvious favorites in the class, she didn't really care about our progress, her lectures weren't especially clear.
I wouldn't advise anyone to take a class with this professor.

Workload:
I'd say workload was about the same as other French classes.

Annie Geoghegan | FR004 - Intermediate French II | French2004-09-21

Review:
Professor Geoghegan was one of the worst professors I've had at Tufts in two years. Not only did she make me cry on the first day of classes by singling me out and making fun of my speech, she played favorites to such an obvious extent that this was often the only topic of conversation during recitation, during which I also learned nothing. This course was merely a review of all the grammar I'd had in high school and I ended up getting an A- despite the fact that Geoghegan embarrassed me all the time about my poor speaking ability.

Workload:
A bit more than most courses, but mostly busy work with vocab and stuff. Papers were graded leniently.

Annie Geoghegan | FR022 - Composition and Conversation II | French2004-07-11

Review:
I agree with the first review of Geoghegan. She was very rude to people with opposing opinions, and very high-strung. I also found that when I would write a paper with my opposing opinion, I would get a B, but when I would write a paper with what I thought she would like to hear, I would receive an A or A-. This is despite the fact that I would put more time and effort into papers that expressed my personal opinion. Overall, in my opinion, a terrible teacher.

Workload:
The workload was slightly beyond the average workload at Tufts. I enjoyed the majority of the readings. They were often political in nature.

Annie Geoghegan | FR021 - Composition and Conversation I | French2004-04-25

Review:
I find that last comment hard to believe.. I have taken French 21 with her and I found her to be one of the better French professors at Tufts. She is very encouraging, great at explaining things. I mastered a lot of grammar I was previously having trouble with..and I really enjoyed her class.

Review:
In my view, the Professor was very un-professional in her manner of holding class. Singled out students for lack of ability in certain areas, and humiliated them. I actually considered going to the dean on several occasions. I dropped the course after a very short while, since I could not put up with the teacher anymore.
