Tufts University: Brigitte Lane - French - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
Professor Lane is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this topic. She is understanding of the fact that not everyone interprets movies the same way, and is thus open-minded when discussing films in class. This class gives students an appreciation for French film and a solid background for further study. The class is in English, so non-French speakers can take it as well. Due to the 3-hour duration, sometimes class got a little boring, but overall it was not difficult, so it's worth staying with it.
Workload:
One movie was assigned each week, and was shown in Olin or on reserve in the library. Reading was assigned, but not really necessary. Don't buy the books- they're pretty pointless and they're all in the library anyway. One presentation per semester had to be made on a topic the Prof assigned, usually pertaining to the weekly movie or director. Final and midterm papers were assigned, the midterm being a minimum of 7 pages and the final a minimum of 10 pages. The assigned questions weren't difficult, and Prof. Lane was very available to discuss movies and answer questions.
