Tufts University: SOC121 - Sociology of Law - Sociology - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccessReview:
Conklin is a very well-respected criminologist who has conducted some interesting research. Nonetheless, his class was boring at times. Although the readings were quite informative, they had very little to do with what was discussed in class. Conklin rarely asked for class involvement, instead opting to lecture for the entire class period. Despite these shortcommings, I would recommend the class for anyone who is interested in understanding the law and the legal profession from a sociological perspective.
Workload:
Workload was relatively light. 6 3-page papers over the course of the semester and 2 in-class essays about films. No final. I found the readings to be quite interesting for the most part.
