Prof Older is great. She was fun and exciting. She incorportated music and videos into her classes and even gave us chocoloate when we looked ike we needed a pick-me-up. At her office hours, she loved to just chat with you and learn more about you. She is genuinely interested in her students and wants them to love spanish. I would definietly take another class with her.
Workload:
Daily reading that isn't necessary. Workbook pages. 3 compositions. Quizzes with fair warning. Severals tests, a final, and a skit. The workload is the same for all sections.

Senora Older was one of the best Spanish teachers I have ever had!! She was ALWAYS interested in making sure you were learning and improving your Spanish language skills. She was very energetic and lively and always kept you engaged in class! She let us listen to Spanish songs, and brought candy into class for us! I loved her and the class!!!! I learned so much!!! AMAZING TEACHER!
Workload:
There were 3 compositions, various small wiring assignments, 3 tests, a class presentation, a group skit, class discussions, watch two films and a final exam.

I wasn't planning on writing a review for Prof. Belansky, but when I read that many people disliked her as a teacher, I felt it necessary to write a review in praise of her. Everyone seems to agree that she is a very very nice woman who cares about your progress, and this is entirely true. As a lecturer, I felt that she did her job quite adequately. Because spanish 3 is essentially a review of spanish 2, it is not easy for a teacher to make the course extraordinarily interesting. That said, if one attends class and studies the book before tests (no need to do the daily assignments), he/she will do just fine.
Workload:
Very minimal work, just study before the test and be good at improvising answers to daily assignments...

Professor Manso was my favorite Professor this semester. He is a fabulous professor who is truly dedicated to teaching his students Spanish. He gives everyone the opportunity to get an A and as long as you show up to class you are set.
Workload:
Homework can be done in the five minutes you sit in class before the professor enters.

She's not a great professor but not as bad as other reviews make her seem. She's very nice and helpful to students but doesn't teach that much material. It isn't really her fault, though, as the class covers only a few basic elements of Spanish grammar and absolutely no vocabulary. It definitely isn't hard to get a good grade in her class, but others will probably prepare you better for higher levels of Spanish.
Workload:
Pretty easy, she assigns homework every night but doesn't check so it's effectively optional. Only a few papers and projects which she grades very easily. Tests are straightforward, nothing particularly difficult.

Gabriela is a great Spanish teacher. Unlike some of the other Spanish teachers at Tufts, she is a native speaker from Madrid. There is a lot of class participation required, but Gabriela is good at making corrections in speech without being hyper-critical. She is very clear in her instruction and is very understanding without treating students like children.
Workload:
Assignments come from the standard syllabus for all Spanish 3 courses. It is important to spend the few minutes reading the assignment in the book before coming to class. Otherwise it's likely that you'll be a little lost. There are 3 exams, 1 final, 1 presentation, and a skit.

Basically, Dietrick is the man. The class is pretty easy if you show up and participate. The only draw back is the day before the tests when you have to do the work book exercises (copying them from the back even takes an hour). He's hilarious and I think he's more partial to guys.

Belansky is a really sweet woman, but she doesn?t lecture. Class is completely partner-based activates that are boring and unhelpful. I think the problem is that stupid textbook they insist on using, but what are really needed are lectures. She's very willing to help outside of class, but I won't take Spanish next semester because of the consistently bad Spanish teachers here at Tufts.
Workload:
Unfortunately, there are assignments due every day and a few group projects and essays due throughout the semester. There's a quiz about once a week and three tests. I found the tests and the essays to be graded strictly and struggled. Not an easy way to fulfill your Spanish requirement.

I would never take a class with Belansky again. Yes, she is relatively concerned about her students' progress, but she is one of the worst Spanish teachers I have ever had. She simply cannot get the point across and 90% of the people in the class are more confused after she tries to give us a lecture. When we get confused, she gives some excuse saying "I'm just an actress..." Not really sure why she's here then. She seems to be a tough grader, not something you want when you're just trying to get a Spanish requirement out of the way...
