I would definitely take another class with Prof. Pollakowski. Everyone got a chance to speak. We read short works by a lot of authors, using a textbook and a course packet.
Workload:
Manageable nightly readings, tests, short (4?) page papers.

Profesora Millay is very concerned with students' progress; she does not interrupt to fix grammar as much as other Spanish Professors that I've had. This makes speaking so much more relaxed, comfortable and likely. The class atmosphere becomes relaxed, inclusive and friendly.
Workload:
Spanish homework, I've found, has generally been more frequent than other classes simply because they need to see progress, your writing style and your comprehension. Assignments were given daily, a reading assignment and a comprehension assignment of a page of typed/handwritten answers to questions given to us in class regarding the reading assignment. Not all of these daily assignments were collected and graded, but it is always a good idea to do them, for yourself as well as class participation. Also, there were a midterm and final, as well as 2 papers.
