Tufts University: Deborah Schildkraut - Political Science - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
This was the first course I have had with Professor Schildkraut, but I will definitely try to sign up for more of her classes. She was an excellent teacher. She looks very young for a professor, but she is more capable than some of the older professors I have had. This class is really her speciality, so she was very knowledgeable in the subject and wanted to make sure that students understood the material as well.
The readings were sometimes very difficult, but the lectures really help to review the important themes from the readings. I would really recommend trying to attend every class, just because Schildkraut gives a enthusiastic lecture and highlights the points you really should focus on in your studies.
Workload:
Lots of reading every week. It is just important to take away the main themes of the reading, rather than specific facts.
It is a political methodology course so there is a 5 page experiment design and a 15 - 20 page research proposal. The deadlines for different parts of the paper really helped to keep me on track for the final paper. There was also a midterm and a final, but Schildkraut provides an excellent study guide a week before the exams.
It might sound like a lot of work, but it is really quite manageable.
