Tufts University: HIST096 - The African American Since 1865 - History - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccessReview:
This is one of those classes where everything is pretty easy and straightforward, so the professor kind of arbitrarily grades. It was a fun class, and I did just fine, but I still think she should have a more clear breakdown of the grades. I would highly recommend getting her to like you, because I don't think her grading is completely fair.

He is a great lecturer and I learned a lot. The readings are very short and the one paper required very interesting research. I would not, however, rave about this professor.. he was neither inspirational nor particularly helpful outside of class.

Gill is probably one of the best professors at Tufts. He began this class by giving out a sheet of terms he would go over and he always managed to adequately inform you on each topic in exactly 50 minutes - this man has his classes down to a science. He is extremely approachable and friendly and willing to answer questions outside of and after class. He was so thoughtful in his lectures and conveyed his knowledge amazingly. I can't say enough wonderful things.
Workload:
He had a lot of reading out of various books, so of which were quite pinpointed studies (an entire book on the migration of southern black women to the Eastern Bay area during the war) and obscure (dress of African-Americans during certain periods) to things you would just expect (Black Leaders of the Twentieth Century), but these books change every semester and are part of analysis on essay tests - worth reading, but takes time.
