Tufts University: HIST113 - Religious and Spiritual Map of Europe from 300-1500 - History - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccessReview:
This was a very interesting class. Professor Marrone is a very nice guy, who clearly knows a lot about European history, if not all the particulars of the religions. The class focuses more on Western Europe (no Easter orthodoxy.) Some of the lectures are lacking in terms of thematic coherency, but overall are interesting (more often when he goes off on tangents.) Marrone is very flexible, and willing to accommodate students' needs.
Workload:
Quickie questions (prepare a few points for discussion in class) about the readings. They can be a bit extensive, but you don't need to do most of it, especially after the first few weeks. Also 3 papers, 1 5-7 pages, 2 7-9 pgs. Limited choice in terms of topics. They related pretty closely to the lectures & reading.
