George Ellmore | ENVST105 - THE HILLS ARE ALIVE: FLOWERS OF THE ALPS | Biology2006-08-29

Review:
He doesnt care at all about anyone but himself. He is also very inapropriate with students and goes on rambles during class.

Workload:
no reading-lots or memorization of plants. boring.

George Ellmore | BIO010 - PLANTS & HUMANITY | Biology2006-05-05

Review:
AVOID BIO 10 at all costs. The class is a complete waste of time for both majors and non- majors, and Prof. Ellmore does not care about his students or how they do on exams or anything other than how some obscure plant group relates to whatever he decides to relate it to. This class and teacher frustrated me beyond belief and ruined my GPA.

Workload:
Theres no reading and no homework, and no textbook to study from, which makes the 3 tests very difficult. You have to go to every class, but even if you do go, be prepared to have no idea what to focus on for exams

George Ellmore | BIO010 - PLANTS & HUMANITY | Biology2006-04-11

Review:
Ellmore is certainly entertaining, and everyone else is right: he makes plants interesting. But, he could care less about students' progress and gives extremely difficult tests and grades them unfairly. If you are a non-science major looking for an easy science class, avoid this one.

Workload:
No work until the exams, and there are three of them. Studying for them is based entirely on lecture notes, but don't spend too much time on it: I studied 20 hours and got the same grades as people who studied the night before for a few hours...

George Ellmore | BIO014L - ORGANISMS & POPULATIONS | Biology2006-04-05

Review:
If ever plants could be sexy, this is the man to make it happen! When studying biology, plants are almost always that "we have to do this, just grin and bear it" topic, but I actually enjoyed the plant unit immensely. Ellmore's explanations are clear, his enthusiasm boundless, and his prodigious knowledge evident. A fantastic sense of humour as well!

Workload:
The readings are typical of a biology class, and the test questions are about 90% simple, and 10% curveballs to really make you think.

George Ellmore | BIO014L - ORGANISMS & POPULATIONS | Biology2005-05-23

Review:
If anyone had ever told me I would be INTERESTED in learning about plants, I would've said,"NO WAY!" But Prof. Ellmore made the information incredibly interesting, often tying it to things we take for granted in everyday life. It was a nice change from the old photosynthesis, light/dark reactions technical stuff, and Prof. Ellmore will keep you laughing. His exam questions were VERY straight-forward.

Workload:
Go to the lectures and you don't really need to read the text, although I found some of it helpful. Otherwise, very light workload....

George Ellmore | BIO014L - ORGANISMS & POPULATIONS | Biology2005-05-01

Review:
Prof. Ellmore was very enthusiastic about his topic of the course, but let?s face it - how interesting can plants really be? At least he was entertaining, though. Readings were helpful in understanding material.

Workload:
Readings were helpful, and not long. The exam was very easy.
