Tufts University: Gary Leupp - History - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Prof Leupp's lectures can be a bit dry sometimes but the material itself is interesting and he does share some very interesting stories related to the material. He isn't always available but he's helpful when you do get to talk to him and he promptly replies to emailed questions. Some people have taken issue with his sharing of political views in class, but really for the most part, he keeps that stuff to himself.
His lectures cover a lot of the reading material (there is a lot of reading!). Bottomline: you can get away with either reading the books or just listening in class. Occasional class discussions, one midterm, one take-home final (essay) - these are the times you'll need to brush up on the material.
