Tufts University: Martin Sherwin - History - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
This has been the first professor who has honestly tried to make a connection with me. As an IR major, which is an interdisciplinary concentration, I've had many classes with many profs from many different departments (this class also counted towards the IR major). He is obviously very knowledgeable about Vietnam and the Cold War in general. Also, I know that he lives in D.C. most of time, flying in for Monday classes every week, so Prof. Sherwin definitely knows his U.S. government. His assignments were genius -- they had us analyze today's conflict in Iraq with regards to Vietnam. A professor who can make history relevant in the present, is a worthy professor indeed.
Workload:
INTENSE reading. About 400 pages a week. Worth it. Three papers, three comprehensive reading quizzes. No midterm. The last paper counts as a final exam. Classes consisted of discussion on readings and the films we watch in class. Once a week, 3-hour seminar in the evening.
