Edward Kutsoati | EC105 - MATH FOR ECONOMISTS | Economics2005-12-22

Review:
I am going to have to respectfully disagree with the other reviews posted about Prof. Kutsoati. While I think he was a decent professor (it's not difficult to teach math for economists... it should be a rather straightforward class, shouldn't it?), I don't think his exams were at all fair. Questions on the exams were either very easy and straightforward or things that he blatantly didn't teach us. Without going into detail, let me just warn whoever is thinking about taking him, he gets tricky, and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it except hope you know things he hasn't taught you. Ec105 is a good class, however, and if he's not teaching it, I would suggest taking it. Let me just add that he's a very nice guy. I suppose there are worse teachers in the econ department, however...

Workload:
Workload is minimal - based entirely off of class notes. Don't even buy the textbook. Unless you're very math-oriented, you won't understand it... and you probably won't use it.

Edward Kutsoati | EC150 - Financial Economics | Economics2005-07-16

Review:
I loved the course it was insightful and interesting. Prof. Kutsoati is a great teacher, he clarifies things well and the math is not that serious at all, the material is pretty straight forward and the exams follow the problem sets so when you're good with that, there are not tricks! If you're going for finance definitely take it.

Workload:
A few problem sets, like 2 or 3 exams and he is always available to help and very enthusiastic, one of the best I had at Tufts!

Edward Kutsoati | EC150 - Financial Economics | Economics2005-03-18

Review:
Prof Kutsoati is a decent professor. He has a good humor, and is very understanding. Not always the best at lecturing, you might get bored with the subject, but compared to most professors in the econ department he is golden. He has good office hours, almost always available to help. This class is a fairly important class to take if you?re heading into finance, since it explains stuff like value over time, different stock and bonds, etc. He is a very easy grader. And usually lets you choose between questions on a test.

Workload:
A few problem sets that aren't too bad. Not much reading. No papers. Two midterms, one final.

Edward Kutsoati | EC105 - MATH FOR ECONOMISTS | Economics2005-01-15

Review:
He's a really nice professor, but sometimes doesn't get the material across that well. The book is kinda useless, you should focus on the class notes. The class material is a bit difficult at times, and really easy at other times, depending on what level of math skills you have or how much math you remember, and you really need to have a lot of math skills. The class covers bits and pieces of AB calc, BC calc, Linear Algebra, Multivariable, and some other random stuff in between. If you have a solid background in math the class should be fairly easy, and Professor Kutsoati gives good partial credit. He is consistently available outside of class, so you can easily catch up if you don't understand something.

Workload:
Not a lot of reading, its more of a do-it-if-you-need-to thing. Assignments can get tough, but he grades pretty leniently. There are only three problem sets for the semester, and two midterms, and one final.
