Tufts University: Lynne Pepall - Economics - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review:
Professor Pepall does a good job of keeping students enthusiastic for the course. There are a lot of interesting games you play in class, and you also get to learn a lot of practical problem solving skills. She is encouraging of class discussion, and letting you use your own logic to figure out how to solve problems. Her office hour availability isn't always that great. The class is exciting and easy in the start, but gets a bit more difficult and harder to comprehend later on. However, if you pay attention in class, the class is fun and you should get a decent grade. I definitely recommend taking the class with Professor Pepall, if you like the more quantitative side of economics.
Workload:
Not much reading required, as she tends not to focus much on her book, and focuses more on her lectures and handouts. As long as you understand the handouts, you'll be fine. The reading is more of a backup in case you need a better understanding of the material in a broader view. No papers when I took it. Three problem sets for the semester, and not graded really.

Review:
Class was all over the place at times, but Professor Pepall was reasonably enthusiastic. The class was frustrating at times because we abandoned the book after about a week.
Workload:
3 pretty easy problem sets that are graded with a check minus, check, check-plus system. 2 Exams and a final that are all very straightforward. Oftentimes the problems are exactly the same as ones we did in class.

Review:
Professor Pepall is very excited about her subject area. However, she often assumes students have prior knowledge of the subject area that they do not have. She also tests new books and ideas on her classes which can be frustrating when they don't work out.
Workload:
A few problem sets throughout the semester. Optional writing workshop. Three exams including the final. When, I took it, she decided she didn't like the book, so there was no reading required.
