Brian Jordan | ENG002I - Family Ties | English2006-02-01

Review:
Great professor, cares deeply about his students. Very accessible, and unlike other English teachers, doesn't let his ego get in the way of praising students' work.

Workload:
Manageable work: usually a paper once a week, 3-5 pages in length. The syllabus makes it look like a lot of work, but don't worry, he doesn't follow it.

Brian Jordan | ENG002I - Family Ties | English2005-12-07

Review:
Brian Jordan is an incredible teacher. He is very interested in his students progress and he takes time to learn a lot about each student personally. He is a very understanding man/god and truly cares about his class. He is also very helpful when it comes to improving your writing. I have also heard from several reputable sources that Brian Jordan?s laughter can cure a multitude of diseases and apparently he once revived a baby suffering from SIDS by simply smiling at it. If you take his class you will not be disappointed and if you are then you didn't deserve to be in Brian Jordan's presence anyhow it is your fault and his that made the class less than perfect.

Workload:
The workload is manageable and there is usually one paper due a week but sometimes you will be working a more than one paper at once. The length of most of the papers range from 3-6 pages and he is very flexible about lengths and due dates.

Review:
Brian J Jordan is a sculptor of words; a humble poet; brilliant, with a voice like sandpaper and water color (to quote wendy).

Brian Jordan | ENG002I - Family Ties | English2005-11-08

Review:
Brian Jordan is amazing. He's more of a friend than a teacher. If you ever need anything, he's there. Extensions are granted, and his class is so incredibly laid back. His assignments were well thought-out and interesting and different. The only annoying thing is that sometimes it's too laid back. He takes some time in returning assignments. Take this class.

Workload:
Very reasonably amount of work. The papers are not long, and you will not find yourself speed-writing to meet deadlines.

Carol Whitney | ENG002I - Family Ties | English2005-04-12

Review:
Carol Whitney is a great teacher. She is interesting and funny, and she makes the class as interesting as it can be. You learn a lot about grammar, all those things that you never knew existed, and for some reason a lot of it sticks with you. She loves it when there is a disagreement and will always want to present both sides. Definitely take this class if you are struggling with grammar, and you want it presented in an interesting way.

Workload:
There are several (9-11) short response papers that you receive an A on if you turn them all in. There are 5 big papers, the first being worth the least and the research paper being worth the most. You read two books, and many short stories, articles, fairy tales, and you watch two movies. You can watch the movies whenever you want but there is a class showing on a Sunday night.

Carol Whitney | ENG002I - Family Ties | English2004-07-14

Review:
Professor Whitney was fantastic. She was very concerned with student's understanding and progress. She was always available to students, and she promptly responded to e-mailed questions and papers. She was very enthusiastic about the material and worked very hard to make sure everyone was involved. I would definitely take another class with her.

Workload:
The workload was normal for a Tufts class.

Carol Whitney | ENG002I - Family Ties | English2004-04-08

Review:
This class is by far one of the most frustratingly boring classes I have ever taken. Professor Whitney's choice of material could not be more out dated. To date we have read books that were written in the early 1900's, a book about whales, and are now beginning to read fairytales. Furthermore, perhaps the one thing that has bothered us all the most is her sheer fakeness. She will proceed to criticize while maintaining a smile. If only I had be warned beforehand this would be a class that all 20 students would dread attending.

Workload:
Response Paper for every class (we meet twice a week) which must be 250 words long. This is not bad at all unless she gives you not only the response paper but also a research paper due on the same day, which has occurred twice. We have had six papers up to date all at roughly 1750 words. Some readings are fairly straightforward whereas others are extremely confusing. Furthermore the readings are very outdated, I had expected to read books more of this century. The assignments seemed simple but no one ever knew what to expect from the Prof. grading wise.
