Tufts University: Julia Genster - English - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review: The professor was fairly enthusiastic. She was very nice and a little scatterbrained. The class is pretty fast-paced because it covers such an extensive time period. The optional writing workshop is really good because you get extra help and extra time on papers.
Workload: The reading load is pretty intense. Be prepared to read A LOT of poetry rather than novels.

Review: Prof. Genster is great. She tries to accommodate all she can (I was sick and out of class a bunch but she was cool with it). She does demand a lot of intelligence and attention in class.
Workload: We read 1 book per week for the entire semester. I had to really really push myself to finish each book. 15 books in one semester is hardcore.

Review: I love, love, love this woman. Some may call her "flighty," but it's all part of her charm, and it does not detract from her role as a professor. She's astoundingly intelligent and may have the quickest wit this side of the Charles River. Don't take a huge lecture course with her -- instead, try a smaller class to get the maximum Genster Experience.
Workload: She does assign a lot of reading -- one to two texts per week, and it can often be overwhelming. This being said, she rarely will ever get to all of the reading material (think first few chapters, or even paragraphs, at most) in one class, which means if you haven't finished the reading assignment for the day, you'll be okay.
