Review:
The majority of the works we read were excellent. They are ones that most people would not otherwise be exposed to, which is a shame. Professor Roy is fantastic. She's eccentric, funny, always a few minutes late to class, and a great professor. Even though the class is large, she still makes sure that is discussion-based and that everyone has a chance to say what they want to.

Workload:
Two papers, a midterm, and 6 informal response papers. She also required that we attend any 3 on-campus events and then write a brief summary of them.

Review:
Professor Roy is very energetic and well-versed in non-western and the unheard, non-traditional perspective. I think the class is essential to understanding a broader sense of literature. What's also great about Roy is she's able to facilitate a discussion, even with the big class size.

Workload:
Workload is not much. Very fair, only three papers the whole semester.

Review:
One of the only English classes where you can read some very interesting "nonwestern" novels. The teacher is laid back, interesting, sometimes goes off on tangents but mainly offers great insight into the readings. She was also often a little late to class. Bonus: counts as a world civ requirement

Workload:
Short response papers for 5/11 books, two papers and a final take home paper; open ended paper topics, a novel (most were pretty short) each week.

Prof. Roy is really excellent and very concerned with her students' progress. She is enthusiastic and knowledgeable toward the material.

Workload:
Decent workload.
