Tufts University: ENG135 - EMPIRE & COUNTER CULTURE - English - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccessReview:
The class was small, and dominated by MFA students, whose ability to tie in visual artwork with our readings impressed Professor Emerson more than any of the rest of us could. The readings were incredibly interesting, but I felt that what I had to say was of little/no interest because it was only about the text. With the project assignment, again, the MFA kids dominated, as there was no way that I could create paintings inspired by the texts. I liked Emerson enough, but I wish I had taken another course with her instead, because this one thoroughly upset me.
Workload:
There is a lot of reading to do for this course, but you'll enjoy it while you do it because it's all interesting stuff. Assignments seemed straightforward enough, but watch out for the final project and plan ahead if you want to finish with an A.

This woman is my hero. She's creative, fascinating, unique, and generous. I've never felt more comfortable with a professor. Her class made such unexpected connections and absolutely changed the way I think about literature. Her office hours are enlightening and her assignments force you to challenge yourself.
Workload:
Moderate, but deadly interesting reading assignments. Midterm and final papers. Don't worry, though. You will do well in her class because you will want to make her happy.
