George McNinch | MATH012 - Calculus II | Mathematics2005-12-14

Review:
Let me be honest with you. I went to every class through the first two tests and only learned one thing. I became a master at sodoku. Essentially, this is the kind of material that you must teach yourself unless you have an organized teacher that doesn't spend half the class explaining proofs that "are necessary" and subsequently not completing the lesson. Through all the courses I attended I do not think Professor McNinch finished one lecture in its entirety. Don't take this class with him because like Borat says, "You will be sorry."

Workload:
It's all the same crap for math 12 but even harder when you have a teacher that can't teach. whoever evaluates these people needs to be replaced because he or she is inept.

George McNinch | MATH012 - Calculus II | Mathematics2005-12-07

Review:
Professor McNinch is a very kind and caring professor but his teaching ability is weak. He often mumbles and babbles and spends too much time on the simple and unimportant things while not dedicating enough time to the more difficult concepts. If you take McNinch you should read ahead before the lectures and spend plenty of time studying. Aside from McNinch's shortcomings as a teacher he is an almost god-like man who deserves to be revered. As far as I know he has committed no felonies or serious infractions of the law. In my expert opinion professor McNinch is more of a spiritual guide, a guru of sorts, and should be put on the fast track to sainthood in the Catholic church.

Workload:
The homework is the same as all the other calc II classes and it usually takes about an hour.

George McNinch | MATH012 - Calculus II | Mathematics2005-12-04

Review:
Nice guy but HORRIBLE teacher. Talks too fast, has trouble articulating the application of theorems. He spends more time showing you the proofs of the theorems - how they originated..etc. - so he never has time to teach you how to apply the theorems to the homework.

In the end, you learn by yourself by reading the textbook.

I'm not particularly good or bad at math but this professor just totally killed any interest in it. If you take this class, definitely get MARY GLAZER instead because there is so much material and so many similar theorems that it gets a confusing (the textbook uses a lot of flowery, circumspecting ways of solving the problems also) so it is beneficial to have a good professor who teaches CLEARLY and gives out organized handouts.

Workload:
Pretty standard. Class meets three times a week and homework is due at class each time. Most people spend about an hour to two hours of homework for each assignment.

George McNinch | MATH012 - Calculus II | Mathematics2005-11-09

Review:
McNinch cares about student progress, is enthusiastic about math, and has sufficient office hours. But when it comes down to his teaching skills, he is really quite bad. Although he 'knows his math', his disorganization, strange mannerisms, and bad handwriting make it impossible to understand him. You'll end up learning the material from the textbook if you take this class. I would not take another class with this Professor McNinch.

Workload:
The workload is typical of any other math class. Daily optional homework, three tests, and a final. It just becomes hard if your professor doesn't teach properly!
