Tufts University: E. Todd Quinto - Mathematics - Professor ratings, reviews and much more | JumboAccess
Review: Although the exams are sometimes considered annoying, Quinto makes up for them (they're department exams, so all MATH-12 students take them, not just his class which is why its not graded) by his avid and active presentation of the material. This is not just another boring, monotone math teacher. He may not get every problem he solves right on the board (which is funny in class, because we have to correct him) but his spunky nature and enthusiasm about the material makes his class an incredibly entertaining experience. However, if you are into "Perfect" teachers who get nothing wrong and never make mistakes, and you do not care about how engaging they are (ie. they are dry and boring and that doesn't bother you), then Quinto is not for you. Other then the occasional wrong variable or coefficient, his class is BY FAR the best math class I have ever been in to date (or at least the most entertaining). Its a shame that not all teachers are as enthusiastic as him.

Review: I'm a little biased on this, since Todd Qunito is my hero. He really knows his math, and is a fantastically nice guy. He is really open to his students and is almost always willing to make whatever time you need for additional help. In class, I've found him to be one of the best math lecturers. He's pretty good at explaining things, and is extremely willing to hear feedback (i.e. slow down in class, go through more problems on the board, cover the homework more), and he acts on what he hears. Probably one of the most student-oriented profs in the Math department. He's really quirky, so if you are into that you'll find class pretty amusing.
Workload: The workload was roughly typical of other lower level math classes (ex: 46, 13). I found it important to keep up with the homeworks to do well on the tests, but the homeworks are more or less optional so you can miss a few or do them later no problem.

Review: Absolutely the best math professor in the department. He's has an odd sense of humor that he seamlessly and not so seamlessly integrates in his lessons. What he lacks in hand writing he makes up in his loud voice that probably can be heard at the Sci-Tech building. Answers any question with clarity and has a genuine desire for his students to learn.
Workload: He is fair. His problems sets can only be a few questions long but they are designed to make you think about the theories and methods in lesson, so they can take quite a long time to do.

Review: Todd Quinto is incredibly enthusiastic and a wonderful teacher. He presents topics relatively clearly through examples and notes (although his handwriting is horrible!) and will ALWAYS be sure to answer a question or clarify information at any point. He is also very helpful over e-mail and in office hours. I think we also have been doing a little bit better in general on our tests than some other classes. I would definitely recommend him and would take another class with him!
Workload: The work is the same for all Calc II classes - about an hour (sometimes more, sometimes less) worth of problems a night. You get all of the assignments the first day of class, and you have to turn one in each class, although you're always allowed to turn stuff in a day (sometimes 2) late and still get credit. I also have rarely had to take the time to reread the book - just my notes - because he's very clear in his explanations
