Avoid this class like the plague. He seems like he knows his shit but is pretty terrible at conveying it. He rambles on about theoretical things and does not teach how to actually apply theories. Puts way too much emphasis on proofs for most people's liking.
Workload:
Workload was more than usual. He gives mostly theoretical problems that are really difficult. His weekly homework was near impossible - class average was 5/25 on one. Tests were hard but he scaled one a few points and had a quiz to help bring up grades on another. The final was brutal - to be thoroughly prepared for the exam, he suggested we solve a review sheet with questions totally unrelated to the test...oh ya and he didnt give answers to it. Nice guy though.

Professor Gonzalez is simply brilliant. The Best Math class I?ve ever taken. It?s a hard class but with Professor Gonzalez handling things there was no problem whatsoever. Clear, thorough explanations were given at each lecture.
Workload:
Usual math workload. Concepts are hard so they take more time to grasp. Great class.

Professor Gonzalez is a wonderful professor. He is clear, thorough, and enthusiastic. He is one of the few professors that can do an entire lecture without glancing at his notes. He knows the material well and likes it. He clearly enjoys teaching and wants his students to learn a lot. Take any class you can with him.
Workload:
Math 46 is a tough class. Be prepared to study until you fully understand; the proofs make you learn it well or you will struggle. Daily homework, three midterms, and a final.

Prof Borgers is a fabulous professor. He cares about student's understanding, encourages class participation, is really enthusiastic in class, and is available during office hours or after class to answer questions.
The most impressing thing about Prof. Borgers is that he is incredibly smart and really knows a ton of mathematics. This makes understanding lectures sometimes a bit difficult since to him many proofs seem utterly obvious. Also, he won't use the exact same definition or notation every time, which can be a bit confusing at first. Nonetheless if you ask a question, he will explain the utterly obvious proof.
Workload:
A lot of homework. Daily homeworks (due every class) and weekly homeworks. Some of the homework assignments are very short. Others are really creative (i.e.not from the book) and take a long time to figure out.

Friendly and kind as a person and clear and intelligent as a professor. She was always willing to help if someone didn't understand something in class, and was obviously interested in and knowledgeable of the material.
Workload:
Workload was appropriate for the course. Homework due every class, 3 tests and a final.

There's no getting around the fact that linear algebra is pretty tough. However, it's impossible to imagine a better way to experience it than with Dr. Kim. She presents the material with great clarity, lots of humor throughout, and deep, deep concern for students' understanding and progress. While I didn't try to seek her much, I hear that she's very available outside of class, and--given all that I saw during class--I believe it.
If it's at all possible, take this or any other class with Dr. Kim.
Workload:
Long homework every night, short quizzes every couple weeks, and tests. Unlike in some lower math courses, the lowest test grade is not dropped here.

This class has honestly been my best experience at Tufts. Dr. Kim is both an amazing teacher and an amazing person. She is outwardly dedicated to helping all students, from Math 5 to people she's never seen in a class she's never taught to ME, all of the time. She has proven to be the most accessible person on the entire campus. Dr. Kim's classes are creative and fun, and make a lot of sense. She obviously has taken time out of her life to make sure she presents the material in such a way that all her students will understand. For the take-home proofs and quizzes, she is never short of help and even emails hints to the entire class. She addresses every question thoroughly and without making you feel eight inches tall - she truly goes the extra mile.
Workload:
Same amount you would expect from a normal math class.

Linear Algebra is not a difficult subject, but the tests can be confusing. Fortunately, Professor Glaser is far and away one of the most enthusiastic and intelligent teachers Tufts has to offer. Her lecturing style seems at times more like a standup comic's than a math professor's. No doubt her years as a drummer for a rock band feeds her classroom presence. Glaser does a good job of preparing her students for the tests and is frequently available for additional help. This class is a good choice for math majors, as well as other engineers. The material is especially applicable for computer scientists.
